Special Services and Rites of Passage

Our ancient place of worship believes in freedom of thought and freedom of conscience. We consider that special occasions to mark life’s turning points should reflect the beliefs and values of the individuals concerned.

wedding-leafletThe Chapel building is registered for the celebration of marriages, including same sex marriages.  We encourage couples to help plan their own ceremony, choosing music, readings and a form of words, to reflect their beliefs, and to create a joyous and memorable occasion. Unitarians have a long tradition of marrying mixed faith couples and those who have been previously married. All we ask is that a couple be truly committed to each other. We offer a historic chapel, a ceremony which you can own and remember as uniquely yours and a beautiful garden where your photos can be taken.

Please contact our Minister Rev Mark Hutchinson for further details, and download our “Weddings & Blessings – The Unitarian Way” leaflet.

If you are married or plan to marry elsewhere, for example in a civil ceremony or perhaps abroad, we can also offer a ceremony to bless your marriage in a religious context.

Child Naming and Dedication Ceremonies

Our naming ceremonies celebrate the joy of a new life and welcome a child into a new environment. They are happy, informal occasions and free from formal ceremonial restrictions.

Unitarian funerals are a personal celebration of the life and circumstances of the loved one, bringing dignity and comfort to a solemn occasion.

Other services designed to serve other special needs can also be arranged, again please contact our Minister  for information.
